Hands-on Workshop in Neurofeedback of Slow Cortical Potentials

Organiser: Dr. Kerstin Mayer

For about ten years, neurofeedback of slow cortical potentials (SCP) has been developed and successfully applied next to the traditional frequency neurofeedback. SCP are slow shifts of brain activity that are below 1 Hz. They belong to the family of event-related potentials and regulate excitation thresholds. As in many clinical conditions (e.g. epilepsy, ADHD) the regulation of excitation thresholds is impaired SCP feedback is a viable option for therapy.

The aim of this workshop is to convey basic psychophysiological knowledge (EEG and Event related potentials) and to explain and demonstrate technical requirements and protocols of SCP feedback. Hands-on exercises will give an impression on how to accomplish a training session.

Finally issues of evidence base, indications and clinical everyday-life will be discussed.
